The Forum presents the European EE & RES knowledge and experience, and is an excellent platform for dialogue and business contacts. Its goal is to encourage investment in energy efficiency and the implementation of renewable energy in the Region of South-East Europe. Due to the top figure of merits Germany is again the Strategic Partner of the initiative. We have every year in addition to Germany a country in focus: last year was Spain, this crisis year it is Austria. The Congress is supported by the German Federal Ministry of Economics & Technology as well as the Austrian Environmental Ministry. Partners of the event are also the European Photovoltaic Industry Association; Bulgarian Energy Efficiency Agency, Serbian Energy Efficiency Agency; Austrian Energy Agency; International Solar Energy Society (ISES); Energy Regulators Regional Association (ERRA); European Biomass Industry Association (EUBIA); REEEP, etc.
The Congress is an instrument since the last five years to generate a market and to network the EE & RES society in the Region of SE Europe. The Solar & PV occupy the Congress second day, the first day is devoted but to two important pre-requests for RES, which are adequate politics at many levels, and Energy Efficiency on the users side.
The recent "gas-war” between Russia and Ukraine affected mainly the Region of SE Europe. After the new gas-incident it became clear more than ever that the Region of SEE needs more energy-independence. It is well known that the RES-potential in SE Europe is strong and unique, but remain not used, also in the 21st Century! The Congress makes a lot of effort to transfer proven know-how from Germany or other more developed EU-countries and to generate interest, industry and market. We hope that the lesson learned last weeks will open the door for EE&RES in SE Europe more widely.
We need in this attractive and beautiful destination of Europe more waste-free energy. The Region of SE Europe is under the top three in EU RES-ranking, owing a lot of water, sun, geothermal sources at the surface of the earth-crust and wind. The recent Energy-Mix of SE Europe needs to be changed drastically toward RES, which has to take place right from the beginning of the 21st century. We have the skilled and educated people to enter the more innovative EE&RES.
The Congress will show how other countries use and develop more efficient new technologies:
- Solar (PV for electricity and solar thermal);
- how they develop the wind sector in order not to have conflict with the birds;
- how the biomass is implemented without negative influence on the food industry;
- how the geothermal energy is used in industrial scales
- or how the co-generation is developed further and the water power stations are more efficient
The event offers a wide range of interactive features: presentations, discussions, parallel workshops, networking, matchmaking session, poster session, EE & RES Exhibition, etc. The organizers expect more than 500 attendees form the Region and generally from Europe. Speakers are from Austria, Bulgaria, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Turkey, and UK.

The parallel International Exhibition provides a showcase of innovative technologies, equipment and services for implementation and utilization of renewable energy and energy saving. There will be official German and Austrian participations at the exhibition. The interest in the SE European region as a good potential market for EE & RES technologies is rapidly growing. 7th of April is announced as the day of German RES experience. The exhibitors will make company presentations parallel to the exhibition.
