Romania - one year after EU accession  

According to the final report of the National forecast commission Romania will register this year an economic growth of 6.1% and record low unemployment rate of 4.4%. The inflation at the end of November reached 6.67%. The gross domestic product per capita reaches 5.620 EUR.

Romanian vehicle fleet reaches 4.5 million units  

The number of vehicles in Romania increased by almost 9% in 2007 against the previous year, most of which were new, whilst sales of heavy haul commercial vehicles doubled against 2006, according to information from the Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reform.

The price of new apartments in 5 areas of Bucharest to increase by some 30%  

The price of new apartments in the Tineretului, Titan, Militari, Colentina and Berceni areas will register a significant rise by the end of the year, of some 10-20 percent, and in some cases even 25-30 percent, according to consultants with the EuroMetropola real estate company.

EC asks Romania for more efforts to combat high-level corruption  

The European Commission is asking Romania to deploy more efforts to combat high-level corruption, Spokesman for the European Commission Mark Gray said on Monday in Brussels upon the European Commission releasing its latest interim report on progress in Romania under the Co-operation and Verification Mechanism.

Romania is not in recession and will keep economic growth /PNL/  

The liberal leaders, through the voice of Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian, dismissed on Saturday the information that Romania is on the verge of an economic recession. They said that, on the contrary, the Romanian economy would have also in 2008 the fastest growth pace in the EU.
